About Us

In 1978 following their association as well known identities in the South Australian retail truck industry Brian Umpherston and Dennis Dobie decided to incorporate Wakefield Trucks at the current Burton Site.

From its inception through to 1999 Wakefield Trucks held the franchise to sell and support the International Truck range for International Harvester, International Trucks and Iveco International Trucks respectively.

In 1990 the franchise with Western Star Trucks Australia was commenced. Our association with Western Star which proudly continues today has seen the product become recognised for outstanding quality and reliability with a continual growth and acceptance.

In 2000 Wakefield Trucks became a sales and support dealer for MAN Automotive Imports offering the German built MAN truck range. This association also proudly continues today and provides our customer base with vehicles that are amongst the most technologically advanced in the world.

Now employing close to 50 personnel Wakefield Trucks have expanded with the transport industry over 30 years. Profits have continually been reinvested with the original site seeing several facility upgrades. The acquisition of surrounding land and the building of an additional service and parts facility has further enhanced our ability to service the truck industry.

Today owners and other long term dedicated and experienced personnel can be found in key positions throughout the organisation.

An ethos of honest and ethical business dealings is well entrenched along with the desire to only deliver quality products with aftermarket support that is recognised as amongst the best in the industry.
